Madonna has shared plans to open an orphanage in Malawi, E! Online reports. It is not a surprise that the 52-year-old superstar was interviewed about her efforts as one of pop music's most influential artists.
?My short-term goals are to build an orphan care center that will service and reach at least 1,000 children and I'm also actively involved in funding several orphanages that already exist,? Madonna said in American Revolutionaries: The Hitmakers, a three-week docu-series that premieres on the Ovation network on July 1.
Unfortunately, Madonna?s previous efforts to build a $15 million school in Malawi, to educate approximately 400 girls, collapsed in March. But the pop star will not allow her charitable efforts to fail. Her son, David, and daughter Mercy were both adopted from orphanages in Malawi. Madonna seems to be using her special bond with the impoverished African nation as fuel to continue charity work and help other children in need.
